To investigate spatial re-organisation of the ghat to address the issue of water pollution and enhance the pilgrim experience.
The context of this project is the river ghat that sits adjacent to Dharmasthala, one of the most important temple towns in South India. This ghat is visited by thousands of pilgrims everyday to take a dip in the holy river and tens of thousands on festivals. As a result, the areas faces intense ecological pressure due to human activities. The project is investigating how spatial re-organisation of the ghat and environmental interventions can address the issue of water pollution and enhance the pilgrim experience.
