Navalur Forest Park, Dharwad

February 18, 2017

To respond to the ecology of the natural landscape and the socio-economic dynamics of the rur-urban context.

To respond to the trends of urbanization as a consequence of the Bus rapid transport between the twin cities of Dharwad and Hubli, the Navalur forest park was an initiative by the forest department to create a green lung in the region. The site lies at the urban-rural fringe and is part of the rural commons, currently used as grazing area for village animals and to visit the village temple. The challenge is to respond to the ecology of the natural landscape and the socio-economic dynamics of the rur-urban context, in order to propose a ‘programme-able’ public park.
