Mangaluru City has only one air quality monitoring station, which is not even located within the city core. APD Foundation being an active campaigning organisation wanted to investigate into the air pollution levels in the city and submit it as a report the Pollution Control Board, thereby making a case for more data points and potential locations.
Once the locations were selected, Ambient Air Quality Monitoring (8 Hrs) measured Particulate Matter in μg/m3 (SPM/RSPM) PM10, SPM, PM2.5, SO₂, NO₂ and Lead. Based on the lab reports, we conducted a spatial analysis of each of the locations, to understand the main cause(s) of Air Pollution and subsequently the pollution risk to schools and hospitals.
